Junior Interim Meeting Continues!

JIM continues with 3 visits to St. Barnabas Shelter in West Philadelphia to play with the kids there, make new friends, and seize the opportunity to work on the Priority from the 2009 summer sessions.

What is Junior Interim Meeting?

Junior Youth Interim Meeting is a new PYM opportunity for fellowship, friends and fun. The program is for 1st - 8th graders and will be a chance to:

• See their friends.

• Follow their priorities and guide their Yearly Meeting.

• Form a community of joy, service, and spirit.

• Play games, sing songs, and go on adventures.

At Junior Youth Interim Meeting, our youngest members will have the opportunity to participate in the practice of Quakerism while gathering for fellowship, friends and fun. We’ll have a chance to continue the process of discernment and action that is a gift of our Quaker practice. Older and younger participants will be paired to encourage leadership and valuable role modeling.

What has JIM done so far?

After the Children’s Program at March Sessions 2010 took a highly successful field trip to St. Barnabas in the Spring, we were invited to up to Fair Hill Burial Ground to spend time with a few members of that lovely community. We had a good time playing in the fields there, helping out with the garden, picking up litter, and sharing snacks under the trees.

The program will be held during Interim Meetings at Arch St. Meeting House, from 9:30am-4:00pm on:

Saturday, September 11th
Saturday, October 9th
Saturday, November 13th

There will be a break at 1pm, and pizza provided for young people staying the whole time. Bring kids to take part in the joyful spirit, and adults are welcome to take part in the Spirit-led business of Interim Meeting, or enjoy Philadelphia. Interested adults are also encouraged to attend a speaker series at Arch St Meeting House.

Loving childcare will be provided for pre-K and younger.
