Library Services Group
Mission
The main responsibility of this
committee is to be a sounding board and/or source of
guidance for the direction of the PYM Library, and to
support the Library in its ministry of books. The committee
does this by regularly reviewing the Library’s
work, assessing its challenges, and helping to shape
its plans and celebrate its achievements
Overview
The committee, formally called the Library Services
Group, meets about four times a year now, or as called,
to make decisions about the course of the library, or
to offer insightful support in preparation for events
like the Monthly Meeting Librarians’ Conference
in February 2007. Most meetings have been on Saturday
mornings, but there has been recent consideration of
evening meetings in the summer months in order to keep
weekends clear for summer family activities for members.
The group can always make a new decision to change this,
as needed by the members themselves.
Structure
There is no set number of members
required, but there is an intention to try to have representation
of at least one person from each of these areas of the
Quaker book world:

branch libraries
-- Central Philadelphia MM
-- Any other monthly meeting outside
Friends Center
-- AFSC
-- A Quaker school
-- One of the two major local
Quaker research colleges (Haverford or Swarthmore)
