Signe Wilkinson Shares Her Sharply Pointed Thoughts

About 30 F/friends attended our February 24th, Saturday evening, event with Signe Wilkinson, member of Chestnut Hill Monthly Meeting and syndicated cartoonist for the Philadelphia Daily News. Using her well known editorial cartoons as a backdrop, Signe gave a bit of her personal history, how she came to be a journalist and cartoonist and how she came to be a Friend (and my oh my!, send her children to those uppity Quaker schools). She talked about Journalism, Philadelphia Quakers and Outreach. She chided Friends for trying to rally round the Peace testimony while ignoring all the other facets of our Quaker experience which makes us a vital alternative to the materialism around us, which should make us attractive to seekers.

A Potluck dinner followed. Many thanks to Kent and Joan Erickson who were instrumental in bringing Signe to us.
