Frank Sullivan progessing with refinishing Meetinghouse floor
|
Frank Sullivan, smiles at the progress made on the refinishing job of our Meetinghouse floor, after a coat of sealer was put down on Saturday. Frank expressed enthusiasm at having the opportunity to work on the floor which he said was original - over 160 years old. "You cannot find this wood today as old growth - it's a Red Pine that disappeared long ago", he said when questioned about the quality of the floor.
Frank still needs to put down about 3 coats of polyurethane finish, which should be done on Tuesday.
Because the curing process takes about 4 days and being sensitive to the needs of those allergic in the Meeting, Friends have decided to wait another week before moving the benches back into the meetinghouse.
That means we will enjoy the hospitality (and warmth!) of Middletown Preparative Meeting next First Day once again.
